Dr. John Sands, Department Chair at Moraine Valley College (CSSIA) states, “NETLAB+ will enable your students to practice industry skills that align to the content you are teaching in the classroom without impacting your classroom equipment and environment. Your students will have around the clock access to real equipment and virtual machines. These devices are preconfigured to help your students understand complex concepts that require a commitment of hundreds of hours of practice to become experts. Your students will value the lab time. You instructors will value the lab automation and management. Your college will value having one lab environment support so many different Information Communication Technology courses.”

BEST PRACTICES / TECH SPECS / SUPPORT

CAE2Y - NETLAB+ provides support labs for the cyber security courses that can enable your school to achieve the CAE2Y designation.

Becoming a Center of Academic Excellence 2-Year (CAE2Y) is a new reality and opportunity for community colleges. This institutional award is established by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), with the support of the National Science Foundation (NSF) and CyberWatch. Community colleges that have established a robust information assurance (IA) program, and have successfully mapped their security courses to two of the Committee on National Security Systems training standards, CNSS 4011 and one other, are now eligible to apply for the coveted status of CAE2Y

TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS AND LIMITATIONS

There are a few limitations to take note of regarding the NETLAB+ Systems:
  • •   There is a limit of 32 active pod reservations at one time on one system. The system will not allow any more active pods if this limit has been reached.
  • •   Due to the hard limit of 32 active pods it is not recommended that the NETLAB+ system be used during class time. NETLAB was designed with remote access to   homework/labs in mind.
